About Frugal Rouleur
Frugal Rouleur is a tool for searching and comparing products across online cycling merchandise retailers Chain Reaction, Wiggle, ProBikeKit, Ribble, Evans Cycles, Merlin Cycles, Cycling Express, Amazon, Cambria Bike, Competitive Cyclist, Excel Sports, Jenson USA and Universal Cycles. It makes it easy to find the best price on cycling equipment and consumables.
It’s developed by Jim Whimpey, a cyclist who had this ill-conceived idea to make it even easier to spend more money on cycling gear.

Store Result Sets
Unfortunately not all stores provide products in all currencies. Frugal Rouleur currently supports currency regions for AUD, GBP and USD and returns a slightly diffrent result set for each region. Wiggle, Chain Reaction, Evans, ProBikeKit, Ribble and Merlin results are returned for all regions. Others are served only to specific currency regions:
- AUD: Cycling Express
- USD: Amazon (US), Cambria Bike, Competitive Cyclist, Excel Sports, Jenson USA, Universal Cycles
- GBP: Amazon (GB)
Free Shipping Labels
Free shipping labels are shown if the product’s price is greater than that store’s free shipping threshold for your currently chosen region. Not all stores publish their free shipping thresholds and others require currency conversion so labels should be used as a rough guide only.
Bookmarklet
Frugal Roleur is great if you know exactly what you’re looking for but isn’t useful if you want to browse around. The Frugal Rouleur bookmarklet makes it easy to compare prices directly from the online store product pages.
iPhone App
The Frugal Rouleur native iPhone app can be downloaded from the App Store. Currently it doesn’t include all the stores on the website or allow currency switching but there’s a new version pending approval that solves both of those problems.
An iPad version is also in development.
International Currency Switching
The currency switching on Frugal Rouleur uses the prices returned for that individual store if you were to set that currency directly on the site. I don’t do my own currency conversion. This means that prices shown on Frugal Rouleur take into account sales tax as it may or may not apply when shipped to your country. That is, if you’ve set your currency to GBP, VAT will most likely be included.
Basically, the price shown is the price you will pay at that store.
Internet Explorer Support
Frugal Rouleur is a side project I created and maintain for fun. Debugging Internet Explorer isn’t fun. It may or may not work in IE and I don’t care. To ensure a great experience (across all websites, not just this one) you can download and use Google Chrome.
